On behalf of the Canadian Conference Organizing Committee and the FAO European Cooperative Research Network on Flax and Other Bast Plants, we would like to welcome our scientists, producers, and industry professionals to the 2008 International Conference on Flax and Other Bast Plants.

Our hosts, the Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission and international collaborators have been working hard to ensure an exciting, informative program for the 2008 Conference, including agronomy, processing, grading, and end uses of flax, hemp and other bast fiber plants. It will be the first time this conference has ever been held in North America. From inspiring keynote addresses to information-filled sessions, this Conference promises to offer presentations on the latest innovations and an opportunity to exchange ideas with others in our field from around the world.

If you have some free time before or after the Conference, take advantage of the opportunity to explore Saskatoon and discover the beauty of the city and the province. Saskatchewan is home to more than 15,000 flax producers and a rising number of hemp growers.

Welcome to Saskatoon and enjoy the Conference!
